Welcome to

Cherokee Syllabary & Pronunciation Key

This is how to make the vowel sounds: a, like father, or rival  - o, like note, almost like aw in law e, silent or short like in met  - u, like fool, or pull - i, like pique, or pit

This is how to make the consonant sounds:

h, k, l, m, n, q, s, t, w, and y are normal like in English g almost like a k. Syllables beginning with g except (ga)  can sound like a k. (do), (du), and (dv) sometimes sound like to, tu, and tv.

Words starting with tl [except (tla)] sometimes sound like d
